The small town of Caerleon near Newport in South Wales is rich in Roman history as it was the site of the Roman fortress of Isca. Visitors can walk along the Fortress Walls Footpath and see the remains of the fortress defences that were built by the Romans around A.D. 75. At the beginning of the walk there is a field of carved wooden statues all inspired by the history of the town. The path then leads to the walls and the impressive Roman amphitheatre.
