The purpose of this museum is to tell the story of policing in South Wales from Celtic times, right through to the modern day. Outside of London, the museum holds one of the largest collections in the country on this topic. There is a virtual tour that takes visitors into an Edwardian charge room, the prisoner cells and other facets of a police station. There is an extensive collection of Victorian memorabilia including truncheons, lanterns, handcuffs and whistles.

I was using my satvav near Cardiff and I looked up the places of interest. This place was about 20 minutes away, so I thought I'd check it out. However, the museum is actally the Police HQ and there is no sign to say this. After driving around looking for a museum, I popped into the Police HQ and asked. I was (finally) in the right place but it is by appointment only. So, don't just turn up! I didn't get to see it - need to make an appointment. May come back later.
