This medieval church has a cruciform structure, with a square embattled tower, supported on pointed arches. The churchyard is the final resting place of the Welsh poet Dylan Thomas. A simple white cross marks his grave. He died while on a lecture tour of America and his last words were: "I’ve had 18 straight whiskies... I think that’s the record." He was 39 years old. His body was brought back to Laugharne, the place he had been happiest. The church houses a replica of the memorial stone that honours Dylan in Poets’ Corner, Westminster Abbey. It reads: "And death shall have no dominion".
