This beautiful Norman church, in a rural setting, is open for visitors during daylight hours. It is surrounded by excellent walking country and makes a good place for a peaceful break and rest for aching feet! Cilybebyll is ancient Welsh for “retreat of tents” as the Romans had a place of worship and encampment here. The Churchyard is built in the circular shape (ancient tradition has it that a circular churchyard gave the Devil nowhere to hide.) The oldest stone is dated 1717. Outside the main door of the church is the base of an ancient celtic preaching cross.
