This medieval church stands in the shadow of the Skirrid, or Holy Mountain. There has been a church here since the sixth Century, when the hermit Anthony Llwyd founded an early Christian settlement. In later medieval times Gerald of Wales preached sermons here. The church retains its original tower, but was substantially rebuilt during the seventeenth century. It was said to have been used as a refuge by the notorious "hanging Judge Jefferies", before he was lynched in the nearby Skirrid Mountain Inn.
