St Peter’s Parish Church in the former mining and ironworks town of Blaenavon in the South Wales valleys was built by the owners of the ironworks, Samuel Hopkins and Thomas Hill, in 1805 and includes many features that are made of cast iron including tomb covers, window frames, pillars and the font. The font is thought to be unique. The church is only a few minutes walk from the World Heritage Site of the old ironworks so why not take in both and delve into the fascinating history of this area?
