This imposing Norman church is situated on a hill; its spire is a landmark over the village and can be seen for miles. A Christian ’llan’ or church settlement was formed in Llanddarog in the middle of the sixth century by Twrog, a celtic saint. The early settlement contained a place of worship with a few rude huts on the site of the present churchyard. The churchyard is circular in form and is elevated upon the surrounding area. Its north wall is very ancient but concealed today by the capping. There are very old graves and stones from the 1700s.
