This nature reserve has been, for many years, quite a well-kept local secret, but is becoming better known as it has recently become a designated SSSI. It encompasses the upper reaches of the local canal and the woodland of Tareni. You can see rare spotted orchids in May and June, ditches full of newts, grass snakes, herons, buzzards, mergansers, dippers and kingfishers. The local cycle track runs through it at one point, and an easy walk takes you right through the reserve.
