The small town of Caerleon was the site of a Roman fortress called Isca that was founded in AD75. The museum is within the remains of the fortress and close to the most complete Roman amphitheatre left in Britain today. It houses a wide variety of Roman artefacts that tell the story of their conquest, their living arrangements, their entertainment, their religious beliefs, and the way they did battle. Children can try on replica Roman armour and enter a barrack room to experience what it was like to be a Roman soldier thousands of years ago.
