Although the Tramshed is run by Swansea Museum, it is situated away from the museum in Dylan Thomas Square in the marina. Trams once played a significant role in the transport system of Swansea, and the tramshed is a wonderful display of some of the most famous of the city’s trams. In particular, there is a double-decker tram which is the last surviving example of a Swansea street tram. There is also a reproduction of the famous horse-drawn Mumbles tram of 1804 which was the first passenger railway service in the world.
