A nature reserve located on the Chiltern hills above Chinnor, run by the Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire wildlife trust. Chinnor Hill features ancient beech forest and chalk downland. It is bordered by the ancient Ridgeway path and is the site of the Neolithic Chinnor Barrows. The reserve is home to many plant and animal species including the rare Chiltern gentian, the increasingly uncommon common blue butterfly, dormice and the greater spotted woodpecker. At the highest point of the reserve, the wood opens out to open grassland affording magnificent views across the vale below. It is also an excellent place to view the magnificent red kites which have been reintroduced to the Chilterns in recent years.
