Surrounded by gracious houses, this grassy quadrangle makes a pleasant place to rest in a busy day of sightseeing or shopping. It gets its name from the former school for cathedral choristers, now known as Wren Hall, which stands on its western side. The Green is part of the cathedral close and leads into the much larger grassed area around the cathedral. All around The Close are fine Stuart and Georgian houses built by wealthy laymen on plots once reserved for the members of the cathedral chapter.
