City Hall is the city’s chief venue for national touring shows. But it also hosts local amateur events, exhibitions and lectures. It was opened in 1937 as the New Picture House and remained a cinema until it was bought by Salisbury District Council in 1961 and converted into a public hall. Now it is the largest venue between Bristol and Bournemouth, offering a range of popular light entertainment.
