These gardens are set around the historic manor, home to the 7th Marquess of Salisbury and once owned by Robert Cecil, Elizabeth I’s chief minister. The original garden was designed in the 17th century and many of the plants were supplied by John Tradescant, a famous plant collector of the time. In the 20th century the gardens were redesigned in the Arts and Craft style. Visitors can enjoy a series of ‘outdoor rooms’ including a white garden, water garden, wildlife garden and old rose garden.
