Charles Dickens is of course one of the most famous writers ever to have lived anywhere in the world. His works are still some of the best read in the English language and have been the subject of numerous film and television adaptations. This is the birthplace of the great writer who spent much of his life in Kent and London and many forget was born in Portsmouth, a fact of which the locals are very proud.
