Country home of the world famous pioneering naturalist Gilbert White (1720 - 1793), author of “The Natural History of Selborne”. The house is furnished in the 18th Century style and includes items of his furniture, exquisitely embroidered bed hangings and his original manuscript. The grounds extend to over 25 acres of 18th Century gardens and parkland. There are exhibitions of the Oates family, particular Captain Laurence Oates of Antarctic fame, a tea parlour featuring some 18th Century fare, a shop and plant sales.
