More recent local records note that In 1851 there were 35 homes in the street and it’s residents included a tailor, saddler, tallow chandler, stonemason, many glove makers and a cobbler. In 1870, the present school was built here. In 1840 a primitive Methodist chapel opened which later became a baker's shop.
