The Guildhall is situated about 100 yards from Windsor Castle which dominates the small town. Unlike the castle which is the royal centre of the town, the guildhall serves as the administrative and political centre of the town for the common people. The building is of great beauty and was constructed in 1687 by the legendary architect Sir Thomas Fitz. The building is now grade 1 listed and is still used as it has been for hundreds of years.
