Fans of the TV series and those seeking some of the grandest architecture in the land won’t be disappointed as much of the interior of Highclere Castle was faithfully used in the 2011 Downton Abbey. Home to the Earls of Carnarvon, the family are no strangers to fame with the grandfather of the current Lord Carnarvon having funded the exhibition to find Tutankhamun’s tomb and the 3rd Lord Carnarvon was also responsible for designing the modern day Houses of Parliament in London.
