Highcliffe Castle, built in the 1830’s for Lord Stuart de Rothesay, was severely damaged by two fires in the late 1960’s. However in 1991 saw the start of an extensive repair and conservation programme, jointed funded by Christchurch Borough Council and English Heritage. A grant £2.65 million in 1995 by the Heritage Lottery Fund helped to secure the future of Highcliffe Castle. The partially restored rooms house a Heritage Centre and gift shop and provide a unique setting for exhibitions, concerts and events. The castle is licensed for civil ceremonies and receptions.
