This small, mainly Norman building makes for an intriguing spectacle as it sits within the well preserved bank and ditch of a Neolithic henge, built over 4500 years ago. Thought to have been an old site of ceremonial importance, the location of the church may signal a deliberate attempt to Christianise the land in the twelfth century. Local rumours of ghosts, mystical energies and disappearing church bells make this ruin an atmospheric place and well worth a stop when travelling North on the B3078 from Wimborne, Dorset.
