Reading Museum is home to many collections devoted to the town’s ‘beer, biscuits and bulbs’ history. There’s a gallery featuring the influence of biscuit makers Huntley & Palmer’s on Reading’s industry and people. Another houses Britain’s 70-metre copy of the Bayeux Tapestry made by 35 women embroiderers in 1885. Artefacts, including jewellery, mosaics, coins and 200 pieces of pottery, excavated from the Roman town of Calleva Atrebatum near Silchester are also on display, together with significant collections of sculpture, decorative art and painting spanning the 12th to the 20th centuries.
