For centuries this was a working mill, straddling the river and mill races. The oldest part dates from around 1500 and still has its Tudor mullioned windows and arched door frames. It is a striking building, with its checkers of limestone and flint. A cloth factory was built onto it around 1810. The whole is now converted into a hotel, pub and restaurant, with riverside gardens. Getting there from the city centre involves a pleasant walk along the Town Path, with lovely views of Salisbury Cathedral across the watermeadows.
