The Health Archives for the county of Oxfordshire were originally established simply as an administrative tool for the local NHS to be able to check on what they were doing and the history of certain elements of the service. However, as time has gone on, and the information has become less personal and sensitive, the archives have become an important research tool in the understanding of health in the region, and are in part open to the public.
