This is one of many museums owned by the University of Oxford based in the centre of the city. The permanent displays in the museum centre around ethnographic and archaeological artefacts. Some of these include Captain Cook’s personal possessions, Tahitian mourners costumes and a wide array of displays from across the south pacific. The displays are organised by type rather than geographical area, therefore you can browse musical instruments of the world, textiles, tools, weapons and masks comparatively, observing the difference between the way things are done in different countries.
