Priory Bay is named after the mediaeval monastery that once stood on the hill above, overlooking the sea. Inaccessible by road, this breathtaking beach is well worth the short walk from Seagrove Bay. Golden sands stretch almost to Nodes Point, and the forest behind makes this most special of beaches a secluded gem. Perfect for swimming, Priory Bay was once the location of an impressive Victorian promenade, the only remains of which can be seen at the far end of the beach after the sea and unsound clay foundations led to its eventual destruction.
