This tiny Berkshire parish church is home to the ‘Aldworth Giants’, statues of the De La Beche family dating back to the 14th Century. These reclining figures are considered to be some of the best collections of effigial monuments in the country. The statues are over seven feet tall and are reputedly life sized. St. Mary’s also has a resident 1000-year-old Yew tree (badly damaged by a storm in 1976) and the churchyard is the final resting place of the poet Laurence Binyon.
