You must leave the main road behind, and go deep into Blewbury, to truly appreciate this chocolate box village. Blewbury lies at the foot of the Berkshire Downs and here is where you will discover St. Michaels Church. The following description by John Betjeman says it all: "One of the most attractive medieval buildings in Oxfordshire, textured by time and easy for prayer, stately and friendly". The original Saxon church was rebuilt by the Normans, the south aisles, north aisles, and west tower were added in13th to 15th centuries.
