The Sheldonian Theatre was designed by Christopher Wren and was built between 1664 and 1668. Its main purpose is to provide the University of Oxford with a place for public meetings and ceremonies. It is also used for recitals of classical music and other similar occasions. Visitors can pay a small admission fee to go inside the building which is of considerable historical and architectural interest. It is easily found as it is close to the Bodleian library.
