The Windsor Martyrs were not alone in the deaths, many died across the country in Tudor times standing up for the religion that they believed in. In 1543 the reformation was in full swing and Henry VIII was separating England from Rome. The Windsor Martyrs were committed Catholics and refused under any circumstances to swear allegiance to the King above the Pope and the God that they believed in. On this site they were killed in their hundreds. Another bloody day in England's turbulent history.
