The ecclesiastical community at St Aldates dates back to the twelfth Century when the first parts of this central Oxford church were constructed. The original tower was built in the thirteenth Century and completely rebuilt in 1873. The modern church was mainly developed in the nineteenth Century during the 46-year ministry of Canon Alfred Christopher. Highlights of the church are the East Window, the font and the spectacular Saxon Cross.
