In 1878 the Association for the Education of Women in Oxford was founded, and it is at this time that the college finds its earliest roots. The college itself was founded in 1952 as a women only college, striving to give women opportunities they wouldn’t normally receive in the academic world. Today the college is one of the largest institutions within the University of Oxford that accepts both graduates and undergraduates and now admits both men and women in equal measure.
