The Chesil Theatre is housed in the old church of St Peter’s which used to stand outside the gates of the city of Winchester and was built in the 12th Century. Now the church has been cleverly adapted for use as a theatre by the Winchester Dramatic Society. The company has more than 200 members and produces six plays a year. It also runs two weekly workshops for children during term time. Previous theatre productions include She Stoops to Conquer by Oliver Goldsmith and The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole by Sue Townsend.
