The Needles Battery was built in Victorian times to protect against the threat of invasion from the French. The beautiful cliff top location offers spectacular views of the sea and the Dorset and Hampshire coastlines. The National Trust have owned the site since 1975 and offer intimate tours of the site which involve tunnelling through the cliffs and learning about the secret military testing that once took place here.
