The Old Chesil Rectory claims to be the oldest house in Winchester and is dated 1450. The building is timber-framed and is in very good condition and the house is a lovely example of the architecture of the time and adds to the historic atmosphere of Winchester. The house was the first to be used as a Sunday school in Winchester and is now owned by the local authority and is used as a restaurant. Visitors can stop to admire it before carrying on over the bridge into the city.
