The Ridgeway is Britain’s oldest road. Stretching 87 miles, this chalk ridge route was used by prehistoric man, and is still enjoyed today by walkers and cyclists. Aldworth is a favourite village to pick up the trail. Ramblers are often spotted taking a well earned refreshment break at the famous Bell pub or nearby Four Points Inn. This section of the Ridgeway leading from Aldworth towards Compton and East Ilsley is abundant with wildlife. Red Kites are plentiful; these beautiful birds of prey can be seen floating gracefully above the fields.
