Shaftesbury Abbey built to last. This impressive barn has been standing since the 14th century. Although called the Tithe Barn, it was actually part of the abbey’s grange here and stored the produce of the abbey’s own lands. The barn is now owned by English Heritage and houses an exhibition on local rural life. It is set in what is now Barton Farm Country Park with pleasant riverside walks and a cafe nearby.
