This castle dates back to 1530 and is an important early artillery fortification that is located in some of the most charming South Lanarkshire countryside, besides the River Neath. The Tower House is a quite exceptional example of a ‘double pile’ residence, considered by most architects to be ahead of its time. The site is overseen by Historic Scotland and is well signposted with historical facts.
