Founded in the 13th Century by the Earl of Carrick this tremendous abbey is one of the most important historical religious buildings in the region. The abbey is in extremely good order, including the monk’s church, cloisters and even the dovecote. One of the most important architectural features of the abbey is the choir that dates from the 15th Century. The entire site is operated by Historic Scotland.
