The remains of this 16th Century nobleman’s house at the heart of Kirkcudbright illustrate one of the finest pieces of architecture in the region from this time. The ‘Below Stairs’ exhibition shows visitors what it would have been like to live and work as a servant at the property. Other interesting features include the ‘Laird’s Lug’ a secret spyhole where the laird could spy on his guests from behind the fireplace.
