This beautiful 15th Century castle is associated with Patrick Maxwell, although his achievements in architecture are somewhat marred by his history of violence and murder. The castle affords fine views across the Firth of Clyde. The exterior features a great deal of exquisite Jacobean detail, making it one of the finest buildings of its time in Scotland. The entire property is now managed by Historic Scotland.
