The town of Saltcoats is located next to the Firth of Clyde on the picturesque West coast of Scotland and is within easy reach of the Isle of Arran. Together with the towns of Ardrossan and Stevenston, Saltcoats is known as "The Three Towns". It offers a pretty harbour which was built by Robert Cunninghame for the export of coal. In 1800 the pier was added to cater for the busy local and foreign shipping industry.
