Thirlestane Castle originates from the 13th Century and is one of the finest visitor attractions in the Scottish Borders. As one of the oldest castles in Scotland, it has seen a great deal of change over the centuries and is today home to exquisite 17th Century plaster ceilings and beautiful Victorian kitchens. In 1840, it was extended and refurbished with the addition of two new wings. Also on site is an historic toy and country life musem, making it a great day out for all the family. Woodland walks and picnic tables can be enjoyed in the grounds.
