The artist Barbara Hepworth created both the Subtropical Gardens and Sculpture Park in St Ives as a place of relaxation and somewhere to show her work. Visitors can now get away from the tourist bustle of the town and see the array of beautiful plants and flowers as well as the strange, abstract sculptures dotted among them in the gardens. The museum also has an excellent collection of her works and is run by the Tate.

I found out on my visit to St Ives that this picturesque Cornish town is a hotspot for artists of all sorts including the sculpture Dame Barbara Hepworth. Whilst the museum lacks the whiz bangs kids will enjoy more mature visitors, myself included, can enjoy the museum and glorious gardens and marvel at the Dame's inestimable artistic talent. - Miriam Masterson
