Although the BRSLI did not move to Queen Square until 1932, the institution was founded over a century earlier. Its collection reflects the Victorian spirit of discovery. David Livingstone, intrepid explorer of Africa, was among those who lectured to this worthy body. Bath by Victoria’s day had abandoned dissipation in favour of moral and intellectual improvement. The collections include geology, natural history, antiquities and examples of the art and culture of many lands.
