Lanteglos-by-Fowey, Fowey, Cornwall - England, UK

Daphne du Maurier was married in this church in 1932, and it appears in her first novel, The Loving Spirit, written a few years earlier. The church dates largely from the 14th century, with later additions. Notable features include a plaque, given by Charles II in 1668, an octagonal Norman font of local Pentewan stone, Jacobean pew fragments and a 14th century tower. The church was restored in 1904 by EH Sedding.

If you decide to do Hall Walk, which starts in Fowey, it's worth taking a small detour to this church. Just turn off the footpath near Pont. If you want to go inside, you will need to collect the key from the farmhouse nearby. Many people visit the church because of its connections with Daphne du Maurier, but the walk here is also worthwhile and the church sits in some of the loveliest countywide in Cornwall - very peaceful, very green and very beautiful. - MitchQ
