Samuel Taylor Coleridge is without doubt the most famous son of the area. In 1772 he was born on this site in the historic market town of Ottery St Mary. He went on to become one of the best known poets and writers of his time. The people of the town are still very proud of their heritage and although the actual house he was born in no longer exists, the site is still of great interest.
