Bristol’s largest concert venue is run by the city council. It takes its name from the school that once stood on the site, founded by Edward Colston. The first concert hall was opened in 1867 in a building designed by John Foster and Joseph Wood. Only their arcaded façade still stands, with its impressive Bristol Byzantine brick and tile work. The auditorium within has been rebuilt four times.
