Conygar Tower in Dunster is owned by the Crown Estate and can be seen from miles around. It may look as if it had some strategic significance but in fact it was built simply as a decorative feature by Henry Fownes Luttrell in 1775 to enhance the view from his home, Dunster Castle. This huge folly formed part of a landscaping scheme which included things like arches, bridges and waterfalls, as well as Dunster Deer Park. The tower is reached by a very steep climb!
