This dovecot is just one of the buildings which were once part of the medieval priory in Dunster. Today, the village has more than 200 listed buildings, ensuring it remains one of the best preserved medieval villages in the UK. The 13th Century dovecot is one of these; a huge structure, circular with 4-foot thick stone walls. It stands around 19-feet high with a diameter about the same and has a conical tiled roof topped by a square cupola. Inside there are 540 nest-holes.
